In addition to my research and artistic practice, I am also an educator. I take much of my teaching philosophies from bell hooks, specifically “Teaching Community: A Pedagogy of Hope”, wherein hooks views the classroom as a community space — one that must work to dismantle racism, white supremacy and other oppressive societal forces.
In line with hooks, I believe that, first and foremost, the classroom must be an anti-racist space that supports and inspires students towards making positive-social changes within their communities.
